Smartphone CasesI’ve done the research for you. After scouring the web, I have what I believe to be the 3 best smartphone cases to protect your iPhone 5 purchase. Now I have to decide. Why don’t you weigh in and tell me which one you would choose?

Mophie Juicepack Plus Smartphone Cases

I’ve been using this smartphone case since I first got an iPhone 4 and I can tell you Mophie is going to get my first look. Not only is the case rugged – mine fell from a moving car with zero damage to the phone – it also has back-up battery. Let me say that again. It has a back-up battery. I don’t think you can put a value on the feeling of watching your battery gauge go red, only to flip a switch and see it start charging all over again. Cell phone heaven. While looking through Mophie’s Web site I also noticed an industrial strength Pro model I hadn’t seen before. Might just have to play with one of those as well. Yes, the Mophie adds some size and weight to your phone, but it’s sexier than some of the other cases, and did I mention it comes with a back-up battery?

LifeProof Smartphone Cases

The LifeProof option was suggested to me while I shopped my local Best Buy. The key to this unit, as I’ve read, is that it’s waterproof up to 6.6 feet for 30 minutes or more. Ever dropped your iPhone in a toilet or sink? Not proud, but I have. Would have been nice to have one of these. Just like flood insurance, you might think you don’t need it, but when you lose your address book or digital content you had stored on your phone you may wish you had invested in a waterproof smartphone case.

Otterbox Smartphone Cases

Then, of course, there’s Otterbox the name in industrial strength cases for iPhones and similar smartphone devices. There were too many options to consider while I was shopping, but enough in the right price range that they’ll be getting a look.

What Will These Protective Cases Cost You?

As a heads up you’re going to pay between $80 and $130 for one of these new cases, but as I guy who dropped his iPhone in a toilet (I said I’m not proud) and left it on the rooftop of a moving car, it’s a fair investment. Protecting your new iPhone 5 is one of the best investments you will make, after your initial purchase of this must have gadget for your digital toolbox.
